Whether you're looking for easy dinner ideas or an easy appetizer to make for a gathering, these simple orange homemade meatballs will have you covered. Jen from Tatertots and Jello made these delicious meatballs for a neighbourhood potluck party since they are the such an easy recipe to make. You can also make this recipe as an easy dinner idea and serve it over rice or with a salad to make a meal out of it. These homemade meatballs have a delicious orange sauce making them the perfect, tangy yet sweet flavour. Plus, the meat is very tender and full of flavour too. If you like, you can make the meatballs from scratch, or you can use some premade frozen meatballs if you like. A great idea is to buy some meat when it's on sale and make some plain meatballs to freeze in the freezer. Then you have premade homemade meatballs to use for easy dinner ideas like this. You could also cook them up and add them to a nice tomato sauce for a yummy pasta dish. You can use any ground meat you like including beef, pork, chicken or turkey, or a mixture of two different types of meat. Regardless of what meat you use, make sure you always try and get some organic pasture-raised meat from an ethical source. Not only are the animals raised more humanely, but they are also fed better, and they aren't given as many antibiotics or hormones if any at all. The same thing goes for buying dairy and eggs too.

If you would rather not have meat, you can also use a meatless meatball, made with different ingredients that are vegetable based and flavoured to taste like meat. You can usually find these premade vegan meatballs in the freezer section in your grocery store or a health food store as a great alternative to meat products. Then, all you need is some orange marmalade and chilli sauce. You can make this in your crock pot if you like, or an Instant Pot if you have one. Crock pots and Instant Pots might not seem that different, but there are a few main differences between the two kitchen appliances. A crock pot cooks your food very slowly over a long period of time on a low temperature so you would be looking at 4 hours on high at a minimum for cooking food in a crock pot. Whereas, with the Instant Cooker you can cook foods a little faster since the Instant cooker builds up pressure and steam that will cook the food faster. In an Instant Pot, you can also make things like yoghurt too which can't really be done as easily in a crock pot.

The preparation time for this recipe is only 5 minutes to get everything together and in your crock pot, you will cook the meatballs for 3 hours. The recipe makes 20 meatballs, so if you're serving these up at a party, you may want to double your batch of meatballs. If you want to reduce the amount of sugar you're using in this recipe you can also either make your own orange marmalade at home with low sugar or you can buy an orange marmalade at the store that has low sugar content. The same goes if you'd rather not have your homemade meatballs as spicy. Just leave out some of the hot sauce and taste test the sauce before you put it into the crock pot.
